Marius Surleac is a Bucharest-based photographer. He mostly focuses on street and abstract architectural photography. He’s passionate about physics and mathematics and tries to capture some of the elements into an array of visually attractive patterns that sometimes may come into contradiction with one another. His photography is spontaneous and approaches the minimalism, combining the abstract with the presence of people, while underlining someway the matrix-like idea of our everyday lives.
Light-drawing shadows, the poetry of shapes, framing, illusions, ratios - the geometry is omnipresent, and it flows through our eyes. Simplicity and minimalism are key factors for the story to go smooth & to have a powerful impact.
Surleac’s artwork has been selected in collective exhibitions, published in international magazines & curated galleries around the world, and has been awarded by prestigious international competitions such as ipa, mifa, ND Awards, MonoVisions Photography Awards, Monochrome Photography Awards, among others
