The Missing Series by Kirsteen Titchener
Often a single image has the power to make sense of something words cannot portray, it can speak many languages and tell secrets (if you choose to share them). An image can express so much; a feeling, an emotion, perhaps a whole story.
Trained as a psychologist the need to communicate with words was essential. The written word was king and an ability to communicate verbally a must. But sometimes the right words could be difficult to find. Often frustrated and unable to find the right language Kirsteen began exploring how images could communicate complex ideas when words were too clunky or inadequate.
Through the use of digital photography and advanced editing techniques Kirsteen creates contemporary art that is recognizable, remains believable, yet cannot be real. These techniques share stories, depict emotions, and express something deep within that cannot always be put into words.
