Miniature Worlds from a Giant Imagination
Art director and photographer Tatsuya Tanaka has been creating daily miniature dioramas since 2011. These delightful scenes from a minuscule universe are compiled into the Miniature Calendar Project.
Tanaka’s creativity is limitless. Recognizable, everyday objects become the set pieces and tools for his tiny figurines. “I make a conscious effort to choose universal materials whose scale can be understood,” he says. And this is precisely where the magic and geniality of his creations resides. While we immediately recognize these simply objects, our imagination transport us to an alternative reality in which their identity is completely transformed.
Tanaka’s inspiration shows no signs of slowing down. This is great news, because we cannot get enough of his tiny world.
