Sensual Hyperrealist Paintings
István Sándorfi (1948-2007), also known as Étienne Sandorfi, was a naturalized French painter of Hungarian origin. He achieved international acclaim starting in the 1970s and 1980s. Sándorfi was a master of hyperrealism, which he ingeniously combined with surreal elements. In his paintings, photorealistic bodies often disappear into thin air, blend with the light or turn into runny paint. The ethereal results lie at the tenuous edge between reality and imagination.
